Principal’s Message

Dear students, parents and friends,

I would like to welcome all our parents, students and teachers to the 2019 academic year. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new students and their families who have joined the Sirius College family this year.

I would like to start with introducing myself as the new Principal of Eastmeadows and Dallas Primary Campus. My name is Murat Guzel. I am 41 years old, married and blessed with 3 children. I have graduated from Nigde University, Mathematics and Teaching in 1999. I also completed my Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology in 2004 from University of New Haven, Connecticut, USA. I have been in education since 1999 as a teacher, team leader, coordinator and Principal, in Turkey, USA and Australia.

It is great to see our beloved students settling into the schooling routine once again. I am always happy to be working with an enthusiastic team of professionals and families. I trust that your experience with Sirius College will be a positive and enriching one. I hope 2019 will be full of exciting events and joyful.

Our new staff members: Mr Abdulkerim Elibol (RV), Mrs Selin Kurdas (Grade 3D classroom teacher), Ms Bassant Al-Hanafy (Grade 1A classroom teacher), Ms Zainab Ayoub (3C classroom Teacher), (Ms. Funda Grade 5 Teacher) and Ms Ashley MacAsker (School Nurse). I welcome and wish them a very productive and successful teaching year in 2019.

I want to point out that apart from school; the success also depends on the commitment and determination of each student and the support of parents. Therefore, we want to see more of our parents involved with their children’s progress by attending all the meetings and information sessions organised by the school. In particularly, making use of SEQTA to keep in touch with the school and teachers.

I am happy to announce that our new campus construction has begun few weeks ago. It is expected to be completed by mid-2020. It will have contemporary curricular and extra-curricular facilities and will combine all primary year levels. I hope all of us will be happy and delighted when we start using it.
